I founded Gesell Psychotherapy because I feel passionate about helping people accept themselves and live more authentically. I have a Ph.D. in Depth Psychology and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and professor at the Program in Clinical Psychology at Vanguard University. I’ve been practicing therapy and supervising clinicians in training for over 21 years.
I have a down-to-earth style and a direct and compassionate approach. I assist individuals in identifying old self- care systems that are outdated; I specialize in working with professionals and leaders toward confidently setting healthy boundaries in difficult situations. My work with clients focuses on supporting the practice of mindfulness and the discovery of self-compassion. I love helping individuals move from guilt, over-achieving and self-consciousness to more healthy entitlement, spontaneity and ease. I personally understand the torment of living with an inner critical voice and perfectionism; in my own personal therapy I slowly learned how to stop depending on others for my self-worth and began to accept myself and trust my own inner truth. I feel called to help others discover this type of liberation as well. I would like to help you experience greater intimacy in your relationships, develop self-compassion and learn to enjoy your whole self – imperfections and all.
